Nazila Ghanea, a University of Oxford professor, became the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief in August 2022. With a background in international human rights law, she has advised states and stakeholders, contributes to rights networks, and co-authored publications related to the UN's work on freedom or religion or belief.
